Akon - AFRIMMA 2017 in Lagos - He will Host It! Akon born Aliaume Damala Akon Thiam better known by his stage name Akon is an American-born Senegalese singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. His name became known through the release of his song "Locked Up" which is the first single from his album titled "Trouble". Akon started a project called "Akon Lighting Africa in 2014 which provides electricity in 15 countries of Africa.

AFRIMMA LAGOS

Akon has been chosen to be the host at the 4th annual All Africa Music Award (AFRIMMA) which is scheduled to be held on November 12th, 2017 at the Eko Convention Center of the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Islands in Lagos.

The African Union Commission and the AFRIMMA International Committee confirmed on October 31st, 2017 that, Akon will be present to for the event that will be going live on over 80 TV stations.

Akon is the first solo artist to hold both the number one and number two spots simultaneously on the “Billboard Hot 100 Charts” twice. He has been ranked by Forbes at number 80 in the “Forbes Celebrity 100” in 2010 and in 5th place in the “40 Most Powerful Celebrities” in Africa list in 2011.
